Dareyn Q.7 is a unique musical project led by kemenche player and composer Emine Bostanci, formed in 2022. Alongside the talented cellist Maya Fridman, who shares the creative heart of the project, they are known for their exceptional and intuitive mastery of their instruments. For their debut album Ghost Secrets, the duo invited jazz/world percussionist Vinsent Planjer and jazz pianist Franz von Chossy, bringing together a quartet focused on the theme of the Seven Heavens—a concept found in diverse cultures and spiritual traditions worldwide. This idea of seven levels leading to enlightenment has inspired Ghost Secrets, a collection of 8 original compositions that explore both the unifying and dividing elements within cultures and religions.

The album features an intriguing blend of instruments, most notably the Istanbul kemenche—a rare Turkish string instrument of which Emine is the only professional player in Europe. Along with Maya’s cello, the duo also uses their voices to add depth and harmony to the intricate sound patterns. The live performance of Ghost Secrets, which premiered on January 13, 2024, at Amsterdam’s Bimhuis, offers a captivating experience that invites listeners into a world of ancient stories and mesmerizing soundscapes.

This project has received financial support by SENA, Cultuurfonds, GNG cultuurfunds and Sticting Gravin van Bylandt.
